Roll your own cotton swabs as shown in this video by @helenarte.restauro (left) and/or use re-usable swabs from Foamtec (right).

These re-usable foam swabs are a great way to decrease waste at your lab or job site if you are cleaning with aqueous solutions. They come in many shapes and sizes, and some have wooden sticks, so you can avoid unnecessary plastic use. Simply rinse out the product you’ve been using and save the swab for another day! Just make sure you're using a solution that can go down the drain safely.
